Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) is a movement dedicated to promote realization of India's scientific and technological aspirations. It was founded as the Swadeshi Science Movement by a group of eminent scientists and social workers led by Prof. K I Vasu at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in the early eighties. Formerly, Vijnana Bharati was launched officially on 21st October 1991 at Khapari (Nagpur) as a professional cum popular science movement. It has, since then, evolved exponentially with respect to ideological and organizational expansion and outreach and gained widespread acceptance nationally. VIBHA now consists of 36 Prant/ Regional units and 6 GCC units. It is working in 19 distinct initiatives and activities aimed at advancing India's scientific and technological landscape.
VIBHA, inspired by the Philosophy of Swadeshi Science and the Ideology of Vasudhev Kutumbakam, is committed to promote indigenous scientific and technological developments and global collaboration for progress of humanity.
